Please join me in welcoming Michael Coleman to the Stark / Raving Branding + Digital Marketing team as our newest graphic designer. A talented designer, an active member in the design community and an avid fan of Godzilla – we are very excited to have you on our team. It’s time to get to know Michael – so let’s begin with our 25 questions!
S/R: Why did you want to be a designer?
MC: I wanted to create things that people saw and used. Even as a little guy, I would pull the inserts out of VHS tapes and try to make my own “cooler” ones.
S/R: Where did you grow up?
MC: Dorchester, then Weymouth.
S/R: Coffee or Tea?
MC: Iced tea.
S/R: Favorite season?
S/R: If you could have any car what would you want?
MC: An all-black 1959 Cadillac Eldorado.
S/R: What would you do if you weren’t a designer?
MC: In a dream scenario: I’d open up a restoration theater. Realistically: I’d be a fisherman.
S/R: What food can’t you have enough of?
MC: Hot dogs. They are my favorite go-to food.
S/R: What do you do outside of work?
MC: I love going to the movie theater. Even if the movie is bad, I just love the experience.
S/R: Favorite place you’ve traveled to in the world?
MC: I love New York.
S/R: Where is a place in the world you want to visit?
MC: I want to visit Japan someday.
S/R: Left-handed or right-handed?
S/R: Do we still need a fax number on business cards?
MC: Absolutely not.
S/R: What do you like most about your job?
MC: I get to create everyday, and I’m surrounded by great people. What they say about doing what you love is true.
S/R: Where did you go to college?
MC: Lesley Art + Design
S/R: What is one thing very few people know about you?
MC: I help run a podcast for the AIGA, called The Boston Designcast.
S/R: What are your top 3 favorite bands / artists?
MC: Ed Roth, George Lois, and David Cronenberg.
S/R: Beer or wine?
S/R: What’s your favorite way to spend your weekend?
MC: During the summer I like to hang out at the arcades at Hampton Beach. Otherwise I’m visiting friends or catching up on sleep.
S/R: If you could choose to live outside of Boston, where would you want to live and why?
MC: New York City. I really love the scale of the city, and the faster pace.
S/R: What are your favorite bands?
MC: Casiopea, MF DooM, and Oingo Boingo.
S/R: Do you have any hobbies?
MC: I do, I like to collect things. I collect old horror memorabilia, and vinyl figures.
S/R: Serif or Sans Serif?
MC: Sans Serif.
S/R: Favorite holiday?
MC: Christmas. It was always my Mother’s favorite holiday and I try to make it as special as she did.
S/R: Where do you want to travel to next?
MC: Atlanta, Georgia.
S/R: What is your guilty pleasure food?
